Dricus du Plessis is a renowned South African professional mixed martial artist who is currently signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Born in Welkom, South Africa, he started training at an early age in multiple combat sports disciplines and ultimately transitioned to mixed martial arts.

On July 25, 2013, Dricus du Plessis entered a professional mixed martial arts cage for the first time opposite Tshikangu Makuebo at EFC Africa 21 in a middleweight bout. Du Plessis made quick work of Makuebo in the fight and won by a first-round TKO after his opponent suffered a knee injury in the bout helping him to kick off his professional mixed martial arts career on a winning note.

After fighting in multiple fight promotions, Dricus du Plessis eventually stormed his way into the coveted Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) at UFC Fight Night: Moraes vs. Sandhagen on October 11, 2020, against Markus Perez. Du Plessis won the fight by a first-round TKO and proceeded further in the promotion. He was crowned the undisputed UFC middleweight champion on January 20, 2024, at UFC 297 when he defeated Sean Strickland by a unanimous decision to win the title.
