Tyson Fury, who also goes by his nickname ‘The Gypsy King,’ is a professional boxer from Manchester, England. Born on August 12, 1988, to John and Amber Fury, Tyson Fury was born three months premature, tipping the scales at a mere 1 pound (450 g). His father named him after the legendary American boxer Mike Tyson, who was the heavyweight world champion at the time. In interviews, John Fury stated that he chose the name "Tyson" as a tribute to the fighter's spirit, as the child defied the odds and survived.

The Fury family has a rich boxing legacy. Tyson Fury's father, "Gypsy" John Fury, was a bare-knuckle and professional boxer in the 1980s with a record of 8-4-1, including a loss to future WBO heavyweight world champion Henry Akinwande. Tyson's half-brother, Tommy, began his professional boxing career in December 2018 under the guidance of two-weight world champion Ricky Hatton. Tyson is also related to several professional boxers, including heavyweight fighters Hughie Fury and Nathan Gorman, retired WBO middleweight world champion Andy Lee, and light heavyweight contender Hosea Burton. Moreover, Fury currently holds a professional boxing record of 34 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw (34-1-1).
