Devin Haney vs. Vasyl Lomachenko will continue after 'Loma' required some additional medical testing.
'The Dream' and 'Loma' are slated to headline an ESPN pay-per-view card later tonight. The two will battle for undisputed lightweight gold in a fight that promises to be one of the most technical of the year.
However, that fight nearly was canceled as a result of last night's weigh-in. While Haney and Lomachenko aren't normally massive trash talkers by trade, they've had bad blood in the build to the fight. That same bad blood showed up at the weigh-ins.
Devin Haney and Vasyl Lomachenko made weight for the contest and began facing off. However, the champion suddenly launched his opponent across the stage unthreatened.

While a shove doesn't seem like a huge deal, injuries have been sustained in a similar incident. One example is Drakkar Klose's weigh-in against Jeremy Stephens for a UFC event in 2021. That fight was called off due to the former suffering an injury as a result of a shove and missed over a year of action.
Luckily, all parties involved made it out fine after yesterday's weigh-in controversy. Haney's bank account may take a bit of a hit, as he'll likely be fined for the infraction. Furthermore, the Nevada State Athletic Commission took another look at Lomachenko after the weigh-ins, but he was cleared according to ESPN.

Vasyl Lomachenko reacts to Devin Haney's shove
Vasyl Lomachenko believes Devin Haney's shove shows his mindset.
'Loma' is heading into Saturday night's showdown in a unique position, the underdog. The normally calm and stoic Ukranian has been forced to deal with a lot of trash talk from the young champion.
The majority of that talk has revolved around the former champion supposedly being a dirty fighter. One would have to figure those claims of being dirty and unprofessional went out the window after Friday's weigh-in shove.
Nonetheless, Vasyl Lomachenko reacted to the shove in an interview with Top Rank after the weigh-ins. There, he slammed Devin Haney, stating that his opponent was afraid of fighting him. Furthermore, he stated the lightweight champion didn't have enough power to stop him, stating:
"He's mine, now he's mine. He doesn't have the power. I felt it, I felt it. [He shoved me] because he's scared, he's scared. Because I saw it around now, one-hundred percent."
