The MMA and IWC are keeping an eagle eye on anything to do with Brock Lesnar’s return to the octagon. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion will face former number one contender Mark Hunt at UFC 200 on July 9th .
The sensational fight is already making waves in the few days since its announcement, with the United States Anti-Doping Agency waiving their four-month clause in Lesnar’s case. Any athlete wishing to fight must submit written notice to USADA at least four months before signing a contract for the fight, but Lesnar was exempted since his last UFC fight(2011) predates the rule’s enforcement and he is considered the equivalent of a UFC debutant.
Lesnar was, however, drug tested this week and the results will be published on USADA’s site next week. Mark Hunt did not sterilize his opinion on the issue, saying: “I don't think that's fair. I think it's load of bullsh-t, I think it's rubbish.
"I don't think anyone should be exempt from testing. If they're trying to clean the sport up — mixed martial arts — this is a bad way to do it. I don't care who you are. It's ridiculous. I don't think it's a great move. I think he's juiced to the gills — and I still think I'm going to knock him out. I don't think he should be allowed to get a four-month exemption otherwise everyone else should.”
