If you want to be a powerful Sorcerer in Diablo 4, the Legacy of the Magi quest is a must. It’s how you unlock your first Enchantment Slot, which allows you to trigger a variety of incredibly useful extra effects, depending on what you slot into it. While it's not a challenging quest, it is one worth doing. It’s also a quest that, if you’re leveling a character, you could accidentally miss out on. It’s entirely likely you don’t see it, or that you pass it by.

Acquiring the Enchantment Slots in Diablo 4 as soon as possible is essential, so Sorcerers should take the Legacy of the Magi quest as soon as they hit level 15. Thankfully, you don’t even have to go anywhere to accept it. Here’s what you need to know.

How to complete the Diablo 4 Legacy of the Magi Sorcerer quest

Once you hit level 15 on either Seasonal or Eternal Realms in Diablo 4, you can take the Sorcerer quest Legacy of the Magi. If the quest doesn’t appear on your screen automatically, you can find it in your journal, which you can access with the “J” key. You can also pull it up directly on your map - the right side of the screen. Click the third tab. That’s where all Class Quests show up. If you’re past level 15 already, and haven’t done it, it will still be there.

Track the quest, and it will tell you to Follow the Astral Call as the next step of Diablo 4’s Legacy of the Magi Sorcerer quest. Depending on which waypoints you have, either travel southwest of Kyovashad, or from Nevesk, which is much closer. You’ll have a brief chat with an NPC, and that will lead you into the nearby dungeon, the Lost Archives. It’s only a few steps away, so head on in.

Any player can enter this dungeon, but Sorcerers at level 15+ will have a specific task here in Diablo 4 - the next step of Legacy of the Magi Sorcerer quest. The goal is to claim the Forgotten Codex. You don’t have to complete the dungeon, but you can if you wish. Your reward for a first completion is the Aspect of the Protector, a valuable defensive legendary aspect.

Complete the first step, which is to open the Inner Dungeon. You’ll have to find and slay a pair of Demonic Vanguard. Explore the dungeon until you find the targeted enemies and kill them.

Once you’re in the Inner Dungeon, keep exploring until you find the Halls of Knowledge. You’ll find a chest here with the Forgotten Codex. Then, all you have to do is return to Mondarin to get to the next step of the quest. Just teleport out of the dungeon and head back to his shack.

You’ll need to take part in a ritual — light the braziers as instructed and then defeat a few waves of demons. None of these will be a challenge for you. There are no elites of super-powerful foes. Just keep shielded, and wipe them out with the skills of your choice. Once that is done, the quest is complete! Press “S” on your keyboard - or go to the Skills menu - and set your first Enchantment Slot with the spell of your choice.
