There are a few great options for Sorcerer leveling builds in Diablo 4 Season 6, but if I had to narrow it down to one, it would have to be Chain Lightning. This is for a few reasons. While the build does have issues with mana regen from the outset, that will get corrected with gear and various passive talents. It also nicely transitions into an incredibly powerful late-game build, too.
After all, Sorcerer is one of the best classes in Diablo 4 Season 6, so trying a leveling build that transitions neatly into the late game is not at all a bad idea. There are plenty of ways to run this build, but this is the method that has worked best for us.
How to play Chain Lightning Sorcerer leveling build in Diablo 4 Season 6
The Chain Lightning Sorcerer leveling build in Diablo 4 is all about massive AOE damage, without putting in a whole lot of effort. It’s slow going at first—until you get Overflowing Energy and Invigorating Conduit. However, once you have those, it’s pretty smooth sailing. You have Arc Lash in the beginning to help you get mana back, to cast Chain Lightning more and more, alongside the massive burst of Unstable Currents.
We also have Lightning Spear, and the always amazing Familiar spell to help with our damage output. The idea is to use Chain Lightning as much as you humanly can. If you’re fighting one-on-one, you want to be close to the target, so you can reflect your own chain lightning.
You also want to regularly cast Lightning Spear for the Vulnerable procs, as well as Familiar. Familiar gives us a rotation of familiars, which can help proc Devouring Blaze. Then, you use your Ice Armor and Teleport as needed to get out of sticky situations or to stay safe. When you hit powerful elites/bosses, it’s time to activate Unstable Currents and smash them into pieces. You should do this when you have at least one Crackling Energy stored.
So, we should also discuss what Crackling Energy is since it’s often mentioned in-game. Some of your abilities have a chance to spawn tiny energy orbs. Picking them up gives you charges of Crackling Energy—you’ll see the meter pop up on your UI. This crackling energy will, in turn, hit nearby enemies and has a ton of synergy with your various passives.
Below, you’ll find the list of skills I invested points in for this Diablo 4 Sorcerer leveling build, and in what order. However, your needs may vary and you may want to focus on passives or specific attacks first, and that’s perfectly fine.
When it comes to your Enchantments after you’ve completed Legacy of the Magi, you’ll want to equip Fireball Enchantment and Chain Lightning Enchantment. Making defeated enemies explode is amazing, and then, even more Chain Lightning synergy is never a bad thing. However, when fighting bosses, you’ll want to swap Fireball for Ice Blades Enchantment.
Best Mercenary to pick for Chain Lightning Sorcerer leveling build
Since this Diablo 4 Sorcerer leveling build is a bit on the squishy side, I pick Raheir as my go-to Mercenary. His incredible tankiness is not something I take lightly. I like to pair it with Aldkin, the Cursed Child, for his ability to chain enemies together. Perhaps pair Chain of Souls with the ultimate, so enemies are locked together for the bombardment of chain lightning. Here’s the skill list for Raheir:
- Valiance
- Ground Slam
- Draw Fire
- Bastion
- Inspiration
