Shape Memory Alloy in The First Descendant is a necessary item required to unlock new descendants and weapons. Just like any other material in the game, farming Shape Memory Alloy also has heavy RNG behind it, so you may have to grind a bit.

Descendants are the playable characters in The First Descendant, and each offers a unique playstyle that can be customized to match the player's taste. While unlocking new Descendants isn’t particularly difficult, it involves a grindy process to obtain the required materials.

Shape Memory Alloy can't be crafted; it is collected by exploring the map and opening various Munitions crates found in random locations. To start farming the crates, select a fast Descendant. Bunny is a great choice, as her sprinting ability allows you to cover large areas quickly.

One of the best places to farm Shape Memory Alloy from the Munitions crates is the Corrupted Base at Hagios. Numerous crates spawn in this location that you can open. To start your grind route, fast-travel to this location and scan the area so that small white markers appear on your HUD, showing the locations of the crates.

Now, run up to the crates and open them one by one. Each crate can give from 20 to 200 Shape Memory Alloy. There is no set amount; all drops are random. If you maintain this grind for an hour, you can potentially gather 1000-2000 Shape Memory Alloy.

Keep in mind that these crates also drop Carbon Crystals, so while using this farming route, you can also build up a good stack of Carbon Crystals. After collecting all the crates in the area, you can either wait 30 seconds for new Munitions crates to spawn or fast travel to another location and return to the Corrupted Base to find new crates with Shape Memory Alloy.
