Absolute Zero is arguably the meta skill module for Viessa in The First Descendant. Viessa contests the nuke starter position with Lepic, and getting this specific red mod is one of the only ways the former can pull ahead in terms of mobbing efficiency. Naturally, if you're a Viessa main, this is a must-have in your repertoire.
In this guide, we will explain all about the Absolute Zero module in The First Descendant, including how to acquire it, what it does, and how to leverage it in a build.
How to get Viessa-exclusive Absolute Zero mod in The First Descendant
To get the Absolute Zero mod in The First Descendant, you have to farm the Hard-Mode Frost Walker Void Intercept boss. The mod is not a guaranteed drop, so you may need to grind the boss multiple times to get it.
Since The First Descendant patch 1.0.7, Frost Walker is a more manageable boss in terms of the Embers mechanic. However, you should still get an all-Lepic organized squad to one-phase the boss. This lets you finish each run in less than 30 seconds if done right, making farming Absolute Zero that much easier.
Best Absolute Zero Viessa build in The First Descendant
Absolute Zero is a build-defining module for Viessa, as it alters a lot of her kit significantly:
- Your abilities no longer trigger "Ice Shackle," i.e. the gradual levels of slow inflicted on the enemy.
- Instead, every time your skills Crit, an Ice Sphere coats enemies in Frostbite, making them more vulnerable to Chill Damage. On top of this, Ice Sphere also casts a potent DoT on afflicted targets.
- Ice Road (Second Skill, C) now does a good amount of damage (Skill Power x 250%) on enemies who come into contact with the affected area.
In effect, this turns your Viessa into an off-brand Valby, leaving a lingering pool of icy DoT in her wake. To leverage this, your build needs crit mods (Front Lines and Emergency Measures) and a balanced sprinkling of duration, range, and Skill Power.
Playing the build is all about spamming your ability, but it's simpler than it sounds. Keep your second ability (Frost Road) up at all times, and spam your nukes off-cooldown to score crits. This is a potent build for mobbing at level cap, but we should add that it won't do much in Void Intercept bosses.
