The Choir of One Auto Rifle has been making news in the Destiny 2 sandbox for dishing out immense damage numbers against endgame bosses. The new Special Auto Rifle can hit the benchmark that the pre-nerf Still Hunt set, which is a lot compared to other weapons in the game. Players knew this was eventually going to fall under Bungie's eye, and a nerf was coming pretty soon.

Only three days after the weapon's release, Bungie announced a nerf that they are holding off until Episode 2: Revenant. While many expected the company to take this step, the community is still pretty disappointed seeing it nerfed.

Bungie announced Choir of One Nerf in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 is a massive game with well over a thousand different weapons. Hence, the sandbox must be balanced around every single weapon, be it a blue weapon, a Legendary, or an Exotic. Then there are Exotic armor pieces added to a build as well.

Bungie has made a reputation for taking quick action against "broken" gear pieces in a game, leading to several disputes between the company and the player base. However, players have grown to realize this is evident, as many often jokingly refer to the developers as "fun police."

Bungie stated the following regarding the Choir of One upcoming nerf:

"While we're greatly enjoying your domination of enemies leveraging the new Choir of One Exotic Auto Rifle, we wanted to make sure to communicate early that there are currently a couple bugs that we've identified with the weapon."

They added:

"The weapon is holding far more ammo in reserves than was originally intended. Hip fire projectiles are dealing more damage than intended when buffed by Divinity. We've started planning bugfixes for these, but we're holding them until Episode 2 so you can have a fun time."

The company also made a statement in context to the current usage, encouraging players to go ahead and shred Destiny 2 Raid bosses and challenging content by utilizing the weapon. This is also why Bungie held off implementing the nerf until Episode 2.
