There is a chance that Destiny 2 players might be given the option to target specific perks in Exotic Class Items. The developers hinted at this change while addressing the ongoing drop rate issues throughout Pale Heart. The official X account of the developer's team came forward to inform players about a hotfix that is in the works for the current issue, alongside something that will be implemented for players to chase specific perks on Exotic Class Items.

The addition of Exotic Class Items has always met with a bit of controversy in one way or the other. While the associated mission was received well, the overall hunt for the perfect roll still feels like a chore for many, even with the changes to Tier 4 Overthrow chests.

Since Bungie is not leaning towards duplication protection, a system for chasing specific perks might be the final fix everyone has been looking for.

Destiny 2 developers hint at targeting perks for Exotic Class Items

Getting the correct perk combination on an Exotic Class Item is no easy task in Destiny 2. Aside from the Exotic mission, players can go through several steps to gain an increased drop rate for the Class Item. However, once the armor piece drops, the rolled perks on that item will be randomized.

To counter this, Bungie might be working on a system that will allow players to get the exact perks for their builds. While this isn't the most requested duplication protection, having a choice to target specific perks for a build is still an impressive step to take.

The following statement was made regarding the ongoing issue of Class Item drop rates:

"We've identified an issue impacting Exotic Class Item drop rates. At this time, Tier 4 Overthrow Chests are not contributing to increased drop chances, nor can Exotic Class Items be awarded through them."

They also discussed their plans for the future:

"We're currently developing a fix, aiming for a near-term hotfix. We are also looking into giving players a way to chase specific perks in a future update. More details as plans solidify."

The current Destiny 2 community manager DMG made a follow-up post regarding this statement, stating that implementing them will take time.
