Bringing back Legendary Hero skins in the Gold Pass

This episode starts with David (Product Manager) explaining the reasons behind the decision to remove Hero skins from the Gold Pass. According to him, the primary reason to do so was:

"We had reached the belief that people do not buy the Gold Pass because of the skins. However, it's important for us to also know if people are actually buying the Gold Pass because of the skin or not since a large portion of the players buy the God Pass for the skin. People who buy skins measure their value on its exclusivity, and making it available in the Gold Pass devalues it for them. Therefore, we decided to remove skins from the Gold Pass."

However, he later stated that players below Town Hall 8 did not unlock Heroes, limiting their interest in buying the Gold Pass. Therefore, they have decided to roll back these changes from the next one, bringing back Legendary Hero skins. To compensate the playerbase for this change, they will add more free rewards in the Silver tier of the next Gold Pass.

Moreover, the developers are working on introducing various Battle Pass reward personalizations in the future. These rewards might change for each player depending on their Town Hall level and overall progression. Therefore, the Decision Dice reward will be removed from the Gold Pass.

More new Legendary Sceneries in the future

David further explained about introducing the new Clash of Clans Legendary Scenery. He explains they were introduced to combat the issue of players running out of space in their village to place new decorations. These new Legendary Sceneries will come out every three to four months with a price tag of $32.99. Every season will also continue featuring new standard Sceneries.

Finally, David also confirms that the design team is working on creating new in-game emotes for both attackers and defenders. Moreover, new Mythic skins for heroes will be coming soon in future updates as a tier above Legendary variants.

Clash of Clans Treasure Hunt event and more chests

The Clash of Clans September 2024 update introduced the new Treasure Hunt event where players might find secret chests while attacking other villages. However, most of them seem to be upset with the fact that one can get them three times in 48 hours.

As such, David discusses the possibility of letting players get them in other locations like the Battle Pass, and various in-game challenges. Moreover, the developers are considering creating new variations of these chests like event-specific and cosmetic-specific chests with unique chest-specific rewards.

Finally, he explains that new social events like Clan Games will come towards the end of this year.

Hero Equipment balance changes

Clash of Clans Hero Equipment has become quite popular since its introduction last year, adding a new strategic depth to the game solely focused on Heroes. However, game designer Petri believes that:

"Some players were able to destroy entire villages using only heroes, requiring no troops. However, we cannot buff troops to balance them alongside Heroes since doing so would make attacking even more easier."

Therefore, he assured that the developers are working on balancing Hero Equipment and introducing new ones. They are considering their use rate and efficacy for these changes. Moreover, they will add new items in the game that can impact the viability of Equipment. Therefore, all balance changes will happen after introducing them and analyzing their overall impact on the game.

More ways to get more Magic Snacks

Finally, UX designer Rafael explains the introduction of Magic Snacks in Clash of Clans. These temporary consumables grant players various buffs. He went on to say:

"We introduced Magic Snacks in the game to make battling more exciting, fun, and rewarding for the players. Their wild effects gave players the feeling of being very OP, but keeping the big picture in a fair state."

However, while most players like them, they are disappointed by the fact that only one can be attained through Treasure Hunt chests.

Soon, players might get them through other means, like completing various in-game events and more. Moreover, the team is open to player feedback and suggestions for improving this game.
