Monster Hunter Now Season 4, called Roars from the Winterwind, has gone live globally on iOS and Android. It brings a new snow-filled tundra habitat and more monsters into the game. Players will also be getting a new weapon called the Switch Axe. Apart from that, the Palico is gaining more customization options.

Monster Hunter Now Season 4 brings a new habitat and monsters in-game

In Monster Hunter Now Season 4, players can hunt in the all-new tundra habitat, where they'll encounter monsters that favor icy environments. In addition, they'll now find Tigrex, Lagombi, Volvidon, and Somnacanth, as well as Barioth and small monsters Wulg and Cortos, who haven't been seen since the spring in-game.

Here is the availability of the new monsters in Monster Hunter Now Season 4:

  • Volvidon, Somnacanth, and Tigrex will appear on the field once you have unlocked them in Season 4 urgent quests.
  • Some of the additional monsters will also appear outside the tundra habitat.
  • Lagombi will appear in the tundra habitat once you have completed the prologue.
  • Tigrex will appear in low numbers.

The developers have made adjustments to a few large monsters that appear in the pre-season story, and new gathering points have also been added.

Once Season 4 begins, some monsters will temporarily stop appearing on the field. However, it will be possible to unlock them once more by completing urgent quests that occur in the story quest.

Apart from the new tundra habitat and monsters, the game also contains a new weapon for players.


Switch Axe: New weapon in Monster Hunter Now Season 4

Switch Axe has the potential to be a fan-favorite in Season 4 Roars from the Winterwind. This new weapon offers hunters versatile combat by letting them switch between its long-reaching Axe Mode and the fast-attacking Sword Mode.

To train players how to wield this weapon properly, Niantic has prepared Switch Axe Training Quests. Players can gather rewards, including Monster Bone+ and Switch Axe Training Tickets, in this quest, which will run from December 12, 2024, at midnight UTC till February 28, 2025, at 2:59 PM UTC.

New Palico features in Monster Hunter Now Season 4

Hunters will now have their own customizable Palico to assist with gathering materials and marking monsters on the field. They can customize their Palico’s fur color, and facial features, and even give it a name. Furthermore, they can even take AR photos with their newly styled Palico.

The following list of features can be edited using the Palico Editor:

  • Outline
  • Fur (Color, pattern, pattern color)
  • Eyes (Color, shape, pupils)
  • Ears
  • Tail
  • Outfit color
  • Voice (type, pitch)
  • Name

Players who have AR-compatible mobile devices can also capture memories with their Palico using the Palico AR feature.


Other new features coming in Monster Hunter Now Season 4

Monster Hunter Now Roars from the Winterwind is bringing a multitude of changes to the game. Here's a list:

Friend cheering feature

A new cheer function will allow players to send encouragement to their friends. Each cheer received from a friend will temporarily increase maximum health for the day by one (max.+10). Cheers can be sent to a maximum of 10 friends per day.

Loadout updates and Season Supply items

Equipment loadouts have increased from 10 to a new maximum of 20. Plus, ahead of Season 4 starting, driftsmelting skills are now saved to loadouts. Furthermore, players will be able to add 250 slots with the Item Box expansion available as a Supply Item in the shop from December 12, 2024, at midnight UTC.

Starter Pass returns in Monster Hunter Now Season 4

Perfect for beginners, the Starter Pass is making its return to the in-game shop. New hunters can claim helpful bonuses for seven days straight. This is available for players who have started the game within 14 days and have reached HR 11 or higher.

The Starter Pass is on sale from December 12, 2024, at midnight UTC to January 5, 2025, at 11:59 PM UTC. Only players who start the game during the sales period are eligible to purchase. For seven days after purchase, the following bonuses will be applied:

  • Receive an additional five First-Aid Meds every day, on top of the usual five.
  • Mark monsters without consuming Paintballs.

Free redemption codes on X

To help hunters upgrade the equipment they can forge from the monsters appearing in Season 4, Niantic is giving away an offer redemption code that will let players claim items like Monster Bone L and more. The gifts include:

  • Machalite Ore x20
  • Monster Bone L x10
  • Earth Crystal x15
  • Carpenter bug x15"

However, hunters need to redeem the code before January 12, 2025, at 11:59 PM.
