The update's highlight is the introduction of two new game modes: Showdown and Gem Grab Duo.
Showdown is a fast-paced, five-player mode where players compete to be the last Squad standing. Instead of Gems, players collect Coins to grow their Squad and use new Mega Potions for power and speed boosts. A Squad health bar will show the size and health of rival squads, helping players strategize when to engage in fights. The map will dynamically shrink in different directions each match due to growing vines to create a difficult surrounding.
Furthermore, the developers revealed that the Showdown initially won't support some mods, maps, or characters in the game. However, this will change in further updates based on player feedback.
In contrast, the Gem Grab Duo game mode features a two-player team where the total Gem score and area buffs will be shared to encourage cooperation. If a teammate gets Busted, they can reassemble a small squad and rejoin the battle. However, if both players are Busted, it’s game over.
Squadmas event details revealed in Squad Busters Squad Update
The Squadmas Event kicks off on December 23, 2024, and concludes on January 5, 2025. During this festive celebration, Candy Canes will appear in battles, which players can collect to unlock Chests and limited-time Squadmas Skins, including Nutcracker Greg, Cookie Goblin, Ice Barbarian King, and Toy Nita.
Furthermore, players will receive daily rewards from the Squadmas Advent Calendar, with a special gift on December 25, 2024.
Ranked mode revamp
Ranked mode is receiving significant changes in the latest Squad Busters Squad Update. Squad League will no longer be part of the World Journey. Instead, Ranked mode will become a standalone feature where players can compete for Trophies and climb local and global leaderboards.
To participate, players must unlock at least five Common, five Rare, and five Epic Characters in Squad Busters. This new format allows them to build custom lineups, focusing on either farming or fighting. Balance changes include increased damage for many Attackers and slight nerfs to the Barbarian King and Archer Queen to ensure more strategic options.

Farewell to win streaks and Chest Tickets
As part of the Squad Busters Squad Update, win streaks and Chest Tickets are being retired. Instead, players will receive a reward Chest after every match, provided they finish in the top eight. Higher rankings will yield more upgrade taps and Babies to boost progress.
Additionally, winning matches will advance players along a new daily reward track, offering Boxes with various rewards. The first win of the day will still grant a Portal Energy Bonus. Players will also be rewarded with special souvenirs based on their highest-ever win streak after the update goes live on Monday (December 16, 2024).
