Thrower's excellence lies in his ability to take down far-off targets via his spear. Unlocking him requires a Barrack building to be upgraded to level 18, which is possible only when a player unlocks Town Hall 16.

The best way to use Throwers is alongside the Grand Warden Walk in Clash of Clans. This is because the Warden and the troop roughly have the same attacking range. As a result, when you deploy the troop alongside the Hero, they stay close and destroy targets together. Moreover, both these units get healed simultaneously when you deploy Healers in this strategy.

Another excellent way to use Thrower in Clash of Clans is through Siege Machines. Although many players prefer reinforcing Super Archers, replacing them with Throwers will give them additional time to wipe out targets after the Siege Machine lands.

This is because Thowers have higher hitpoints than Super Archers. Consequently, while withstanding incoming attacks for a longer duration, they destroy more targets nearby.
