What is Wordscapes?
Developed by PeopleFun and released in 2017, Wordscapes was once one of the most popular word puzzle games online. While the mobile application is still available and still attracts players, the game’s popularity has decreased ever since the rise of Wordle and other similar games. But Wordscapes’ engaging, challenging but simple format with a variety of difficulties has kept it relevant.
At its essence, the game challenges players to form words by swiping between letters that are arranged circularly in order to fill a crossword-type grid. With a variety of puzzles, bonus words, and a catalog of game modes, Wordscapes kept players engaged for hours. So much so, that it was voted as one of the best free mobile games in 2018 by several publications.
