What's the story?
Claudio Domenicali, the CEO of Ducati, said that there is more harmony in the Ducati MotoGP team since the exit of Jorge Lorenzo, and believes that there is a positive vibe in the pits.
In case you didn't know...
Jorge Lorenzo hasn't had the best of times with the Ducati machine during the 2018 season, which forced the Italian manufacturer to not renew their contract with the Spaniard. Furthermore, the terms between Lorenzo, Dovizioso and the team weren't always good, and multiple reports highlighted the situation in the Ducati pits.
Hence, Ducati signed the rookie rider Danilo Petrucci to ride alongside Andrea Dovizioso for the 2019 season, which saw the five-time world champion make a surprise switch to the Repsol Honda team to partner with the current world champion Marc Marquez.
The heart of the matter
As stated by Speedweek.com, Claudio Domenicali believes that there is more positivity in the Ducati pits as one moves towards the commencement of the 2019 MotoGP season. He stated that the new Ducati duo of Dovizioso and Petrucci managed to introduce increased harmony to the team, something that was lacking between Lorenzo and Dovizioso during the 2018 season.
Domenicali said, "Between Jorge and Andrea, there were many verbal struggles and quarrels. I realise that these things also belong to the whole spectacle. But in 2018, it was a bit more felt than we would have liked. We have to wait and see how it goes. I think we will have a very positive situation in the pits."
"There is certainly more harmony in the team now. Andrea and Danilo definitely have the will to work together. This pair has a potential that the duo did not have before."
What's next?
Jorge Lorenzo moved to Repsol Honda for the 2019 season, and Ducati features Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci for the upcoming season. Let us hope that both the teams find their rhythm early on and manage to produce some spectacular racing action.
The 2019 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season beings in March 2019 at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar.
