Suzuki MotoGP rider Espargaro to undergo surgery

Suzuki Moto GP rider Aleix Espargaro will undergo surgery on May 19 in Barcelona after the injury he suffered on his right hand during his Le Mans crash. Dr. Xavier Mir said : “Aleix suffered a rupture in the ulnar collateral ligament of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the right thumb, confirmed by ultrasound and x-rays.

This injury causes joint instability and therefore a surgical repair is necessary.” Albiet he will stay in hospital after the surgery it is impossible to predict when will he get fully recovered.

His objective is to be ready for the next GP of Italy at Mugello at the end of the month.

Suzuki had temporarily suspended its participation in MotoGP from 2012 but returned back in 2015 with Espargaro and young sensation Maverick Viñales.
