Sydney, Nov 27 (IANS) Australian driver Mark Webber, who retired from Formula One (F1) on Sunday, will team up with movie star Eric Bana for his first Bathurst 12 Hour endurance race in 2015.
Just days after his final F1 Grand Prix in Brazil, Webber revealed via Twitter his intention to compete in the longest endurance motor race in Australia Wednesday, reports Xinhua.
The endurance race is held annually at the spiritual home of Australian motor sport – Mount Panorama, Bathurst.
Asked by a fan on Twitter whether he will be driving for Porsche with Bana at Bathurst 12 Hour in February 2014, Webber replied: “No 2015″.
It is likely the 37-year-old will drive a Porsche 911 GT3 at the sports car endurance event.
Australian movie star Bana is a famous car enthusiast and has previously raced the Bathurst 12-hour.
Webber quit Formula One after 12 seasons to switch to sports car racing with German manufacturer Porsche.
