Chennai, June 20 (IANS) The MRF Formula Ford 1600 will again headline the MMSC-FMSCI National Racing Championship as the second round will be held at the refurbished MMRT track here over the weekend.
The Formula Ford is India's fastest single-seater series and will feature some of the most talented Indian drivers like 16-year-old Tarun Reddy, who won both the races in Round 1 in February with some daring moves on the last lap, Vikash Anand and Advait Deodhar.
Also on the card are the Indian Touring Car (ITC) championship and the Indian Junior Touring Car (IJTC) series that boasts of the biggest ever line-up with 27 cars on the grid.
The ITC will see veterans B. Vijaykumar, Radha Selvaraj and M. Sivaramkrishnan with Arjun Narendran in tow. The ITC will run along with the new Super Stock category (up to 1799cc, Group N) with 25 cars on the combined grid.
Feroz Khan returns to defend his IJTC title with Fahad Kutty, Charen Chandran and S. Narendran all looking to challenge him for the title.
Narendran will also figure in the Formula LGB 1300 Swift Championship. He created history last year by winning all races and he will be up against Goutam Parekh and Ajay Kini once again besides a host of aspiring young guns.
Free practice will take place Friday with qualifying sessions Saturday morning, followed by races in the afternoon and Sunday.
The first, second and fourth rounds of the series will be held at Chennai. Coimbatore is the venue for the third round and the championship concludes at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
