Danish driver Allan Simonsen has died following an incident at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on Saturday.
34-year-old Simonsen crashed in his Aston Martin about 10 minutes after the start of the race.
He was contesting the GTE Am category in an Aston Martin when he crashed heavily.
The 34-year-old was immediately attended to by doctors from the race’s medical team.
Simonsen was an experienced Le Mans campaigner and was racing at the circuit for the seventh time.
Only two days earlier Simonsen was celebrating after his Aston claimed pole position in the race.
