Davide Giugliano has led a Ducati one-two ahead of his teammate and local favorite Jakub Smrz, during the first free practice of the Czech World Superbike round at Automotodrom Brno. Eugene Laverty set the third best time.
Giugliano set a rather good run as he held back at the start of the session, but pushed for the lead in the final stages. In a quick run, he had pulled himself up from the last position on the grid to the lead. He eventually set a time of 02:00.359 ahead of his two followers.
The fourth best time was set by Max Biaggi with long time pace setter Tom Sykes in fifth. Marco Melandri set the sixth best time ahead of Carlos Checa while Loris Baz set a promising eighth. The top ten was completed by Ayrton Badovini and Michel Fabrizio.
