While these family names are well-known and instantly recognizable, only three father-son duos have each won a championship at the premier level of the sport.

#3 The Jarrett Family
Ned Jarrett, popularly known as "Gentleman Ned Jarrett," is a two-time Grand National Series champion. The NASCAR Hall of Famer won his first title in 1961, and his second title came in 1965. He accumulated 50 race wins in the premier level of competition.
Ned Jarrett's son, Dale Jarrett, won the Cup Series championship in 1999. Having accumulated 32 wins in his career, Dale racked up numerous crown jewel victories, including three Daytona 500 victories, two Brickyard victories, and a Coca-Cola 600 victory. He joined his father in the Hall of Fame in 2014.

Lee Petty, the patriarch of the iconic Petty racing dynasty, is one of NASCAR's most successful family names. A winner of the inaugural Daytona 500, Petty clinched three Grand National Championships in 1954, '58, and '59. He was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2011.
Lee Petty's son, Richard Petty, famously known as 'The King,' rewrote NASCAR's history books with records that still stand today. A seven-time Cup champion, he won the Daytona 500 a record seven times and holds the record for the most Cup Series victories at 200, nearly double that of the second-placed driver. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2010.

The Elliotts are the most popular drivers in the sport, with Bill Elliott dubbed as 'Awesome Bill from Dawsonville' winning his lone Cup title in 1988. A two-time Daytona 500 winner, Bill was the most popular driver in his era, winning the Winston Cup Series Most Popular Driver award a record 16 times. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015.
Chase Elliott is building on the legacy of his father, Bill, as he has won the NASCAR Most Popular Driver award for the past six years. Elliott became a Cup Series champion in 2020 and has clinched 19 victories to date, compared to 44 recorded by his father. The 28-year-old was named alongside his father in NASCAR's list of 75 Greatest Drivers.
