It’s no secret that competing in NASCAR’s top-tier racing series is a year-long grind. The drivers put a lot on the line as they strap themselves up for their rides. But perhaps the biggest sacrifice these athletes make is time with their families.
Traveling every weekend is a must for a NASCAR driver. Therefore, the offseason is the only leisure that they get. And during those few months, which also include New Year's Eve, they also plan major life events, like getting married.
On that note, let’s take a look at the drivers who married their significant others on New Year’s Eve.
#1 Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Dale Earnhardt Jr., one of the most well-known figures in NASCAR, married his longtime partner Amy Reimann on December 31, 2016 at the Childress Vineyards in Lexington, North Carolina, owned by NASCAR Cup Series team owner Richard Childress.
Among the invitees was NASCAR trailblazer Danica Patrick, who happened to have caught the bouquet that Amy tossed into the air. Veteran spotter T.J. Majors was Dale Jr.’s best man, while Nick Terry from Motor Racing Outreach officiated the wedding.
Dale Jr. and Amy celebrated seven years of marriage this year in January. The two-time Xfinity Series champion tweeted:
“Celebrated 7 years married to an incredible woman. Hugged her and the kids a little more these past few days. Life is flying by. Happy New Year everyone. Enjoy it and hope ya have a safe night.”
#2 Bubba Wallace
Interestingly, 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace and his wife Amanda Carter met in high school in their sophomore and freshman years, respectively. According to The People, Amanda even went to Wallace’s prom with someone else from his school.
The lovebirds connected in 2015 and started dating the next year. In June 2021, Wallace popped the big question and on December 31, 2022, he tied the knot with Amanda in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Wallace and Amanda welcomed their first child in October and lovingly named the boy Becks Hayden. Later, Wallace shared the news through a post on Instagram.
“We were blessed with his presence Sunday 9/29☺️ 9 months of waiting on this little guy, he’s made it all worth it! So excited for this journey!" Wallace wrote in the caption.
#3 Kyle Busch
One of the power couples of NASCAR, Kyle Busch and Samantha Busch, got married on New Year's Eve 13 years ago. The wedding took place at the Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago.
This year, Busch and Samantha celebrated their anniversary in a unique way, also in a very unusual place. It wasn’t a fancy restaurant, and it didn’t happen during some kind of vacation. Instead, it was on a dirt track. A match made on the track indeed!
Busch posted on X:
“It takes a special woman for spending her anniversary at a dirt track. Thank you for putting up with so much and making my life special. I Love you @samanthabusch ❤️”
Kyle and Samantha Busch have two kids together, Brexton Locke Busch, who was born in 2015, and Lennix Ley Busch, who was born in 2022.
