With the confirmation of Stewart-Haas Racing's sale of multiple charters at the end of the 2024 season, Noah Gragson, alongside his teammates Chase Briscoe, Ryan Preece, and Josh Berry, faces uncertainty around his future. In this article, we take a look at four potential destinations that Gragson could call home come 2025.
Following what was a period of turmoil and immense uncertainty, Noah Gragson joined Stewart-Haas Racing at the end of the 2023 campaign. The move followed a period of suspension which was levied upon Gragson by NASCAR after his questionable social media activities.
Gragson's suspension was lifted just over a month later after he underwent diversity training with partners at RISE (Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality). While a return back to Legacy Motor Club could not materialize, the 25-year-old signed with Stewart-Haas Racing as a replacement for the departing Aric Almirola.
However, with SHR announcing the sale of three of its charters next season, Gragson once again finds his NASCAR future up in the air. That said, below are the four teams Noah Gragson could sign for in NASCAR Cup Series for the next season.
Noah Gragson's potential destinations for 2025
1. Joe Gibbs Racing
Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) could be a viable option for Gragson, especially given his ties to sponsor Bass Pro Shops and the impending retirement of Martin Truex Jr. after the 2024 season. However, as NASCAR reporter Bob Pockrass noted, it is not guaranteed that Gragson is a candidate for the No. 19 car or that Bass Pro Shops will stay with the No. 19 team. There's a possibility that Bass Pro Shops could follow Gragson to whichever team he joins, making JGR a potential, though uncertain, destination.
2. Richard Childress Racing
Richard Childress Racing (RCR) has emerged as another potential landing spot for Noah Gragson. Reports from The Athletic's Jordan Bianchi suggest that RCR is among the teams looking to purchase one of Stewart-Haas Racing's charters, which could open the door for Gragson to join as their third driver. Despite Austin Dillon's recent struggles, his position at RCR appears secure, meaning Gragson would likely join as an additional driver rather than a replacement.
3. Front Row Motorsports
Among the teams most likely to buy one of Stewart-Haas Racing's charters is Front Row Motorsports. With Michael McDowell set to leave for Spire next season, FRM could potentially have two vacant spots to fill next season. Gragson, being a Ford driver, could fit the bill and sign for FRM, continuing to stay in the Ford pipeline.
4. Stewart-Haas Racing
Lastly, Gragson could potentially remain with Stewart-Haas Racing, albeit under a new banner. SHR is set to retain one charter next season and will be rebranded as the Haas Factory Team, fielding one car under the leadership of Gene Haas. This option would allow Gragson to continue his association with the team and build on his experiences from the current season. With the team's restructuring, Gragson could play a pivotal role in their efforts to re-establish themselves in the Cup Series.
As Noah Gragson contemplates his next move, his performance this season provides a mixed picture. With five top-10 finishes in 17 races, he currently ranks 24th in the Cup Series standings with 287 points.
