The footballer turned driver, Cale Yarborough was a one of a kind racer due to his grit and sheer determination. He came from a humble farming background to humble many racers before him on the track. Yarborough was the only driver in NASCAR to secure three consecutive championship titles until Jimmie Johnson broke his record. He is among the Top-10 Greatest Drivers of all time. Cale Yarborough has been inducted into multiple Hall of Fames. His interests spread far and wide, not only limited to motorsports. He dabbled in various businesses post races.

Cale Yarborough was born on March 27th, 1939. He had a knack for doing things in a way that would cause trouble. He attended his first Southern 500 without a ticket and later tried to fake his age to get a chance to race. Nevertheless, the sport lost one of its greatest assets upon his death on December 31st, 2023. His fame was on such a level that Mercury made a special Cyclone Spoiler II after his name.

Yarborough won the Cup Series title from 1976-1978, setting a record that took nearly three decades to beat. He is a multiple time winner of the legendary Daytona 500, having won the race four times throughout his career.

Cale Yarborough has finished in the Top-10 319 times throughout his career, clinching 69 poles in total. His race tally of 560 races put him among the most consistent racers of his time.

Yarborough was in the Top-10 in all except two races during his 1977 championship run. He achieved his firs Top-10 finish at the Twin 125s at the Daytona International Speedway during the 1962 Grand National Series. Cale Yarborough ended his career with a Top-10 finish at the Atlanta Journal 500 in the 1988 season after which he retired.
