Dale Earnhardt came into the scene just when everyone thought that Richard Petty’s records were going to be immortal in NASCAR. Earnhardt dominated NASCAR Cup Series, equaling Petty’s tally of seven championships and making his own records. He kept winning races in the Cup Series for four decades straight and turned out to be one of the most successful drivers in NASCAR history. It was at Richard Childress that Earnhardt was finally able to showcase his talent and achieve the best finishes of his career. Earnhardt never left Richard Childress Racing even though he had created his own team due to the influence of Richard Childress. He was competing for them in the 2001 Daytona 500 before his fatal crash.
