Dale Arnold Jarrett, born on November 26, 1956, in Conover, North Carolina, is a former American race car driver who currently serves as a racing commentator for NBC. He is the son of Ned Jarrett, a two-time NASCAR Grand National Series champion (now known as the Cup Series). Following in his father’s footsteps, Dale Jarrett won the NASCAR Cup Series championship in 1999, making them the second father-son duo to claim NASCAR’s top series title, after Lee and Richard Petty.
Dale, like his father, has an impressive record in the Cup Series, with 32 wins, 16 poles, and 260 top-10 finishes in 668 races over his 24-year career. Among his most memorable achievements are his three victories at the prestigious Daytona 500 in 1993, 1996, and 2000. Dale also claimed significant wins at other major events, including the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway twice, in 1996 and 1999, the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 1996, and the Winston 500 at Talladega Superspeedway in 1998.
