Darrell Waltrip won the Coca-Cola 600 in 1985.

The Coca-Cola 600 race is a race which involves high speed racing and scenic views. The longest race of the NASCAR calendar is the testament of NASCAR driver’s determination. The event involves 600 miles of racing over four stages.

The Coca-Cola 600 is a part of Crown Jewel races, which are the most prestigious events on the NASCAR calendar. There are many drivers from both NASCAR and IndyCar who try to attempt Double Duty. Double Duty is an unofficial name given to the act of participating in Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 in the same year. It involves 1100 miles of racing in the same day.

The Coca-Cola 600 made its first appearance in 1960 after the inauguration of the Charlotte Motor Speedway. The inaugural race encountered a tragic crash which almost took the life of a driver. Since then the Coca-Cola 600 event has seen many dangerous wrecks.

The Coca-Cola 600 isn’t an easy race in any circumstance. The transition from sunset to night is a difficult factor which affects many drivers. Richard Petty had to wait many years in frustration before he could claim his first victory at Coca-Cola 600. Ryan Blaney is defending victor at Charlotte, having won in 2023 NASCAR Cup Series. He will look forward to joining the NASCAR greats and becoming a multiple-time winner of the Coca-Cola 600. Hendrick Motorsports is the leading team at Charlotte Speedway with 12 wins in total.
