NASCAR veteran Kyle Busch once left frustrated and confused by Brad Keselowski’s move on the final lap of the 2021 Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway. After that race, Busch expressed displeasure with Keselowski's move, accusing him of recklessly attempting to spin him out without any strategic benefit. However, the move wouldn’t have helped Keselowski to advance into the season finale race.
The rivalry between Busch and Keselowski was one of the highlights of the Martinsville playoff race. Both the drivers were racing hard for the lead on the final lap, and Busch was not happy after Keselowski tried to push him out of his way, as the former Joe Gibbs Racing driver felt it was unnecessary.
In the post-race interview at Martinsville in 2021, two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch used a slur while expressing his frustration after getting spun by Brad Keselowski. Here’s what Busch said (via Noah Lewis’s YouTube channel):
“Well, he drills my ass coming out of four for no reason. I mean, where was he going? What was he going to do, spin me out? He was trying to do a Harvick is what he was trying to do. For what? For second place? To do what? He wasn’t going to transfer through with that just freaking retarded man. So stupid I don’t understand these guys. I should beat the shit out of him right now is what I should do, but that doesn’t do me any good either.”
When asked why he chose not to fight with Keselowski, to which Busch said:
“I've already had to pay enough fines in my lifetime. I'm sure I'll get another one.”
Kyle Busch later apologized for using the R-word at Martinsville
The following day, in a Martinsville post-race interview, Kyle Busch took to X (formerly Twitter) to apologize for using a slur.
Busch wrote:
“In one of my post-race interviews I used a word I should never use, and I want to apologize for it.”
Kyle Busch crossed the finish line in second place while Brad Keselowski finished third in the final standings of the Xfinity 500 in 2021.
Despite a runner-up finish, Busch missed the championship 4 berth by just three points in the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season. The overall performance was not that good to secure the final championship 4 spot. He wrapped up in ninth place in that Cup Series season’s championship standings, tallying two wins and 14 top-five finishes.
