NASCAR Hall of Fame Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Amy Earnhardt have been married for over seven years. The long-time couple tied the knot on New Year's Eve in 2016 in a grand event at Childress Vineyards in North Carolina.
Earnhardt Jr. and Amy Reimann began dating in 2009. After spending around six years together, the two-time Daytona 500 winner proposed Amy in 2015, while they were on a vacation in Germany. Just over a year after their engagement, Earnhardt Jr. and Amy decided to take the next step in the relationship, and chose New Year's Eve in 2016 as the date for their wedding.
They held a lavish event in Lexington, at a venue owned by racer and team owner Richard Childress. With over 100 guests in attendance for the special moment, Earnhardt Jr. and Amy exchanged vows to become Mr. and Mrs. Earnhardt Jr.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. shared a small video of the wedding on his Instagram page, captioned:
"Happily married!!! What an amazing experience. Looking forward to the rest of our lives. @mrsamyearnhardt"
A year after the wedding, Dale Earnhardt Jr. announced his retirement from NASCAR Cup Series. Since then, the couple has been busy managing JR Motorsports as well as their other business ventures.
On the personal front, Earnhardt Jr. and Amy have two daughters, Isla Rose and Nicole Lorraine.
"Thought I was gonna scare 'em off!" - Dale Earnhardt Jr. shares a funny encounter with a swarm of wasps on the Dale Jr Download podcast
Although Dale Earnhardt Jr. is known for his brave exploits on the race track, his wife Amy Earnhardt shared the NASCAR legend's recent moment on the Dale Jr Download podcast. The couple spoke about Dale Jr.'s hilarious encounter with a swarm of wasps.
Earnhardt Jr. was in the backyard, inspecting the heater near the pool. While removing the pool cover, he unknowingly disturbed a nest of wasps. This sudden movement caused a swarm of around 25 wasps to attack the retired NASCAR driver.
While Earnhardt Jr.'s quick reflexes allowed him to dodge his attackers, what came afterward made Amy laugh. In the heat of the moment, survival instinct caused the North Carolina-based racer to flee from the location, while screaming and swatting his hands in the air.
Missing the entire action, Amy recalled how Earnhardt Jr. described the situation to her.
"I missed that and I was so mad. I'm like, wait a second, you did what? And I didn't get a glimpse of this," Amy commented (0:11 seconds onward).
