He raced for Hendrick for 25 years, participating in 805 races throughout his career. In his last year at Hendrick Motorsports he managed to clinch third position in the driver standings ending his career on a positive note.

Gordon currently co-owns the no. 48 car in the team with team owner Rick Hendrick. The car was previously raced by Jimmie Johnson on his way to seven championship titles for Hendrick. He also has an equity stake in the no. 24 team which he previously raced for.
