Joey Logano's crew chief

Paul Wolfe transitioned from being a racing driver to becoming a three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion crew chief. He has been able to work with top-tier drivers such as Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano, making him one of the best crew chiefs out there. Through this combination of engineering knowledge and racing experience, Wolfe would bring victories in car setup and race strategy into Logano at Penske for his great successes. Under the leadership of Wolfe, Joey Logano's No. 22 team was a regular contender for wins and top-10s during the 2024 season. The duo was able to clinch the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series title ultimately with their final victory at the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race. Wolfe has a long history in NASCAR with both driving and crew chief experience and strategic insight that helped Logano capture the title, including last season's title in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Early life of Paul Wolfe

Paul Wolfe was born on April 24, 1977, in New York. He started his racing career by racing in the NASCAR Busch North Series from 2000 through 2004 and the Busch Series, now the Xfinity Series, from 2003 to 2005. However, after the unremarkable competition as a driver, Wolfe became a crew chief changed his trajectory. Being an early-stage driver meant that he gained insight into race cars. Being a crew chief requires working more than being a driver. After those stints with Evernham Motorsports and FitzBradshaw Racing, he joined in as a NASCAR crew chief.

Wolfe's "coming out" moment as a crew chief came when he went to Penske Racing in 2010, a stint that saw him work with Brad Keselowski in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (now Xfinity). It was a successful season that brought them the 2010 Nationwide Series championship, Wolfe's first big success as a crew chief. In 2011, Wolfe joined Keselowski in the Cup Series, where they won many events, including consecutive wins at Kansas Speedway, Pocono Raceway, and Bristol Motor Speedway. With the collaboration, they eventually won the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the first-ever title in the championship history of Penske Racing and the second in the career of Wolfe, who became the only crew chief to win two titles at once in both the Nationwide and the Cup Series.

Logano and Wolfe

In 2020, Wolfe was paired with Joey Logano as the crew chief of the No. 22 Ford Mustang at Team Penske. The duo immediately clicked, achieving several race victories and becoming one of the most formidable driver-crew chief pairings in the sport. Logano and Wolfe had their best season in 2022. The duo won four races together in 2022 with seventeen top-10s which is their best season, as of February 2025. As of February 2025, Paul Wolfe continues to lead Joey Logano’s No. 22 team.
