Kyle Busch recently suffered another missed opportunity in what has been an underwhelming season. The two-time Cup Series champion came close to snapping his longest winless streak but spun out as the Hollywood Casino 400 race at Kansas Speedway entered its final stretch.

With 32 laps to go, Busch tried to lap Chase Briscoe for the lead but couldn't because of the #14 Ford's dirty air. As a result, the Richard Childress Racing driver spun on Turn 2 and ended up with a P19 finish, thus, extending his 50-race winless streak.

Reflecting on the missed opportunity, the 63 Cup Series race winner said:

I'm sure he[Chase Briscoe] was racing to stay on the lead lap and racing whoever was in front of him there. Granted, they got a race to run, but back during the whole day, you give you a lane, you know, and let the leaders race. And I just, I wasn't getting that. And so I tried to force my hand to get that and get to his outside. And when I did, just for some reason, whatever happened, it just gave all the air and all the wrong place and spun out."

However, a different scenario but this was the second incident between Busch and Briscoe where the former missed out on his potential win in the 2024 season. During the final race of the regular season, Briscoe booked his spot in the playoff while the RCR driver Busch finished second.

Furthermore, expressing his frustration, Busch said:

"It doesn't matter what I expect. I don't think anybody gives anybody anything anymore, it's all take, take, take."

NASCAR Insider reflects on the Kyle Busch and Chase Briscoe incident

Soon after the race, Fox Sports journalist Bob Pockrass shared his thoughts on Chase Briscoe not giving the frontrunner Kyle Busch a pass during the final stretch of the Kansas race.

Pockrass believed the result would have been different if Briscoe had been a non-playoff driver.

A post by Fox Sports on X stated:

"A non-playoff Chase Briscoe should give Kyle Busch more room in that situation. But a playoff Chase Briscoe can’t afford to do so."

Furthermore, Pockrass reflected on the incident and said:

"You've got to do that as long as you're still in the playoffs and hope for some forgiveness or know that you'll get it back at another time. But chase Briscoe in the playoffs; he needs those spots. He can't afford to go a lap down for as long as possible."

It is worth mentioning that Busch is the only NASCAR driver in its history to clinch at least a win in 19 consecutive seasons.

Busch now has only six races remaining to extend his impressive record for another season.
