NASCAR is the pinnacle of stock car racing in the world and one of the most popular forms of motorsports in existence today. NASCAR or the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, was conceived on December 14, 1947 by American businessman Bill France Sr. in Daytona Beach, Florida. Being a racing driver himself, France Sr. was keen to conduct racing in the U.S. as an organized sport. His efforts led to the first-ever NASCAR race at Daytona Beach on February 15, 1948. Robert “Red” Byron won the race and became the first NASCAR champion in the same year. That was just the beginning as the sport expanded to conduct annual events in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Europe. With speeds regularly exceeding 200 miles per hour, the action in NASCAR is most certainly fast and furious.
Richard Petty holds the record for the most number of race wins in NASCAR Cup Series with 200. He has also started the most number of races with 1,184. Along with Dale Earnhardt and Jimmie Johnson, “King” Petty is also the driver with the joint-most number of NASCAR Cup Series Drivers’ Championships with seven titles. A total of 35 drivers have won the 74 Cup Series titles held till the end of 2022, of which 17 have won multiple times. Kyle Busch, however, has the most NASCAR race wins across all series with 229 as of 14 August 2023. Besides winning 63 times in the Cup Series, Kyle has 102 Xfinity Series and 64 Craftsman Truck Series race wins. Joey Logano is the youngest Cup Series race winner at just 19 years, while Harry Gant is the oldest winner at age 52. John Delphus McDuffie Jr. holds the dubious distinction of the most race starts (653) without a single win.
Here is the list of drivers with the most NASCAR Cup Series race wins as of August 16, 2023, according to the official website of NASCAR, with all of them winning at least 20 races.
