NASCAR has made its place as an iconic American motorsport. With a dedicated fan following and a legacy like no other, NASCAR is one of the most popular sports worldwide. Such status makes it an excellent platform for teams and drivers alike. Being part of NASCAR in any capacity is advantageous to everyone, so it is no surprise how much teams want to compete in the series.
Currently, there are a total of 17 full-time teams that compete in not just the NASCAR Cup Series but can also be part of other series like Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series. It is also worth mentioning that each team is required to use one out of the three pre-cleared manufacturers. These three manufacturers are Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota. Chevrolet is a preferred manufacturer as most teams on the grid have aligned with them.
Most teams prefer to compete in a singular series but teams like Joe Gibbs Racing are part of both, the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series. Though the flexibility of the series is given to teams, each team is only allowed to have four cars in the series.
This helps the series combat the problem of single-team domination and has been able to promote diversity on track. Apart from the full-time teams, there are also multiple part-time teams that are part of a series based on their capacity.
