McDowell gained the pole position once more at the Geico 500 race at the Talladega Superspeedway, taking over Austin Cindric with a best time of 52.609 seconds and speed of 182.022 mph. The driver continuously dominated Austin Cindric once more at the World Wide Technology Raceway with a best time of 32.468 and a speed of 138.598 mph.
Michael McDowell won his next pole at the Daytona International Speedway and broke his personal best record of 49.465. This time he completed the same track in just 49.136 seconds, marking a significant difference of 0.329 seconds.
