Ned Jarrett is a retired American race car driver and broadcaster, who is a two-time NASCAR Grand National Series champion. He is the father of former drivers Glenn Jarrett and Dale Jarrett. Jarrett was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 1997. Jarrett was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame as one of the five NASCAR Hall of Fame inductees of the 2011 class.
Jarrett’s last race was in 1966 at the American 500, Rockingham, after which he pursued his career as a broadcaster/racing announcer. In 1978, Jarrett became a radio broadcaster for MRN Radio. He even interviewed U.S. President Ronald Reagan live at the 1984 Firecracker 400 at Daytona International Speedway, the race famous for Richard Petty’s 200th win. Jarrett is currently a broadcaster for NBC Sports. Ned and Dale Jarrett became the second father-son combination to win Cup championships after Lee Petty and Richard Petty.
