After becoming the owner of a CARS Tour and sports management company, Kevin Harvick has recently expanded his portfolio. On Monday morning (July 15), Harvick revealed that he has joined the new ownership group of the Charlotte Checkers, a team in the American Hockey League (AHL).
After his retirement from the NASCAR Cup series last year, Kevin Harvick with a net worth of $110 million (as per Celebrity Net Worth), stepped in as one of the co-owners of the CARS Tour series, previously owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and others, in January 2024.
Harvick has teamed up with famous figures including Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow, NFL linebacker Myles Jack, Carolina Panthers long snapper J.J. Jansen, and former NASCAR driver Regan Smith. Together, they are part of Zawyer Sports & Entertainment. The group announced that it has taken a controlling interest in the Charlotte Checkers. The Checkers are the American Hockey League affiliate of the recently crowned Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers.
Harvick, present at the press conference in Charlotte on Monday morning, shared his readiness on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), stating:
“Excited to join this ownership group!”
Since 2006, the Checkers have been under the ownership of Michael Kahn, founder of Kahn Ventures Inc., a major player in the alcoholic beverage distribution industry. Kahn will continue to be involved with the team as its largest minority partner even after the recent transaction. The team has been linked with the Stanley Cup-winning Florida Panthers since September 2020. They did not disclose the financial details or how much of the franchise Kahn still owns.
The Checkers are gearing up for their first home game of the 2024-25 season, set for Friday, October 18, at 7 p.m. against the Cleveland Monsters. Team officials have announced that season tickets and group plans are currently available for purchase. Details on individual tickets and a comprehensive promotional schedule will be released in the upcoming weeks.
Kevin Harvick joins 20 CARS Tour drivers in a 5-hour-long test session
Ahead of the zMAX CARS Tour doubleheader next month, co-owned by Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt Jr., the former Stewart-Haas Racing driver participated in a test session at North Wilkesboro Speedway. After spending five hours on the track, Harvick shared his take on adapting to the Late Model cars. He said:
"From the driver's standpoint, for me, it's really about getting used to these cars. I raced the car one time here and that was the only time I've ever raced the car in the Late Model Stock division. So I think just getting used to the grip level and the yawl and everything that goes with a Late Model Stock is really the biggest thing," he explained, as reported by FloRacing.
Since retiring, Kevin Harvick has stayed connected to NASCAR as an analyst for Fox while also managing his various business ventures and ownership roles.
