Hendrick Motorsports recently shared a guess-the-track challenge video of their drivers, Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson, on social media. #9 Chase Elliott was the quickest to identify the Sonoma Raceway track over his teammate #5 Kyle Larson while being blindfolded.
Ahead of the Toyota/Save Mart 350 race at Sonoma Raceway, Team Hendrick rolled out this fun challenge on their official Instagram handle, stating, "Guess the track: Sonoma Edition". The 2021 Cup Series champion Larson took a while to guess his home track, while his HMS buddy, Elliott, who's worth $12 million (according to Celebrity Net Worth), aced it.
The challenge video also included the other two Hendrick drivers, #24 William Byron and #48 Alex Bowman. Out of the lot, the #9 Elliott and #24 Byron guessed the track under 5 seconds. At the same time, the other Chevy drivers took a while to think of the correct answer to that challenge.
Here's the video posted by Team Hendrick:
The four Hendrick stars currently sit in the top 10 of the overall Cup Series standings. Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, and William Byron have secured their spot in the playoffs by securing a win earlier this season. Only #48 Bowman is left to bag his maiden victory for the season.
Is Chase Elliott the favorite to win over Kyle Larson at the upcoming road course at Sonoma?
NASCAR heads toward the wine country for the upcoming Cup Series weekend on June 9 at the road course in Sonoma, California.
The "once-undisputed road-course king" of NASCAR, Chase Elliott has bagged seven wins in road courses, and none of them have been at Sonoma. However, NASCAR suggests that #9 Elliott is one of the favorites to win at the Toyota/Save Mart 350.
"This weekend might be where he turns on the jets, however, as the once-undisputed road-course king of NASCAR looks to reclaim his throne at Sonoma...with how he's running this year -- brilliantly -- it feels like he'll be the top dog to beat on Sunday," Pat DeCola said (via NASCAR)
According to a recent accumulation of stats by Trey Ryan on X,
"Chase Elliott has an average finish of 9.88 through 15 races in 2024. Not only is this the best of all drivers in 2024, but it is also the best average finish Chase Elliott has EVER had through 15 races in his Cup Series career."
Currently, the 28-year-old Elliott has one win, five top-fives, and seven top-tens in his 15 starts this season. He is at the third spot in the overall Cup Series standings and is six points behind his HMS teammate #5 Kyle Larson.
Meanwhile, #5 Larson enters his home track, Sonoma Raceway, with two wins and 21 points behind the points leader #11 Denny Hamlin.
