Ahead of the final race of the 2024 Cup Series regular season, Chase Elliott has opened up about top strategies for saving tires. The Hendrick Motorsports racer, along with his teammates Kyle Larson, William Byron, and Alex Bowman, spoke about the importance of preserving tires on social media.
Placed third in the driver's table, Elliott will be eager to make the most of his Darlington Raceway appearance. With just 18 points separating him and the current leader Tyler Reddick, the Georgia-based driver will be looking at grabbing the 2024 Regular Series championship before beginning the Playoff journey.
In the video shared by HMS on its Instagram page, the $12-million-worth HMS racer (as per CelebrityNetWorth.com), spoke about how poor wheel balance and alignment can hurt the tires during the race, thereby ruining the chance of winning the event.
"Totally depends on your balance. Which end of the car you are using more? Are you hurting the right front? Are you hurting the right rear? Is it a road course? Are we turning right? Is it left front or rear? Yeah so, all kinds of different scenarios," The #9 racer said, highlighting the variety of strategies that come into play during a race.

"Saving tires will be a key part of Sunday’s race."
Apart from Elliott, his teammates, Larson, Byron, and Bowman, also emphasized several other crucial factors. These include maintaining optimal tire temperature and running tires within their limits to minimize wear and tear throughout the race.
Elliott's ability to manage tire wear effectively was evident in his top-10 finish at the Ford City 500 on March 17th, 2024, at Bristol Motor Speedway. His excellent tire management enabled him to push hard in the closing stages of the race.
"NASCAR makes the rules,” - Chase Elliott supports Harrison Burton's 2024 Playoffs entry, despite criticism from the NASCAR community
Harrison Burton's entry to the 2024 Cup Series Playoffs, despite being 34th in the driver's table, has shocked the NASCAR community. While he has faced criticism from several fans, Burton has garnered support from 2020 Cup Series champion Chase Elliott.
Burton snatched the win from Kyle Busch on the penultimate lap at Daytona. This move earned him a spot in the upcoming Playoffs.
Speaking with NASCAR journalist Bob Pockrass ahead of the Cook Out Southern 500 race at Darlington Raceway, Elliott supported Burton's surprise entry.
“Look, they don’t make the rules; NASCAR makes the rules, and this is the format that they created," he said (1:06 onwards).
This is the reality, and that’s the format they rightfully took advantage of,” Elliott added (1:26 onwards).
Here's a look at the video posted by Pockrass on his X page:
"Chase Elliott says NASCAR makes the rules so to question whether Harrison Burton should be in the playoffs is unfair because this the format and the rules they are racing under."
For reference, Harrison Burton has just two Top 10s and one Top 5 finish so far this season, and the win at Daytona was his first-ever Cup Series victory. He is over 510 points behind the championship leader, Tyler Reddick.
