Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott recently discussed the upcoming changes at Bristol Motor Speedway to accommodate a Major League Baseball game in 2025. The game between Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds was earlier announced.
The two teams will clash at the inaugural MLB game in Tennessee, scheduled for August 2025. The historic Bristol Motor Speedway, often dubbed "The Last Great Colosseum," will serve as the unique venue. Renowned for hosting the Food City 500 and Bass Pro Shops Night Race in the NASCAR Cup Series, the speedway promises an unforgettable atmosphere.
Of late, fans have been extremely curious regarding the potential changes that might be made to the 0.5-mile track to accommodate the MLB game. Veteran NASCAR journalist Bob Pockrass posed this query to the $12M-worth Chase Elliott (according to Celebrity Net Worth), who jokingly referred to it as a "Chipper" question, referring to Chipper Jones. He said:
"I mean, I think it's really more of a Chipper question than me considering I don't play baseball. But I will say, you know, and he brought it up and was saying there, he's like, man, that doesn't look like 330, you know, it's pretty short, too."
Chase Elliott explains how Bristol will change to host the historic MLB game
Chase Elliot explained some of the changes that might take place at Bristol Motor Speedway for the MLB game. The 28-year-old stated that the track is going to look "much different" from how it looks right now.
"I'm not sure exactly where they have to post or I would imagine why that's going to change. And some Kevin was saying that that building is going to be going away potentially down there. So it's going to look so much different. I don't think where they had the numbers up is exactly accurate, but that would be a professional," he stated.
While Bristol has typically hosted racing events, this will not be the first time people will gather there without the noise of engines roaring. In 1961, an exhibition NFL game between Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles was held at the venue. It held another American football game back in 2016. This, however, is the first time that it will play host to a baseball game.
Despite not being a baseball player, Chase Elliott's explanation suggests that he still seems to have an idea about how the track would be modified to host the historical game.
