NASCAR legend Kenny Wallace is known for his fierce driving style and unabashed opinions. Amid the ongoing Olympic break, Wallace has posted an unusual claim regarding the current generation of NASCAR racing.

Nicknamed 'Herman,' Wallace started his NASCAR career in 1988. After spending one year as a full-time racer in the Xfinity series, he progressed into the Cup Series. Although not as talented as his elder brother and NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace, Kenny managed to clinch a total of 9 wins, 204 Top 10s, and 74 Top 5 finishes in 904 race starts (Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series).

Post his racing career, Wallace became involved in digital media, especially with his podcast. The 60-year-old has been raising his voice on several topics within the NASCAR world, connecting with drivers, owners, and crew members, bringing forth their side of the story for fans around the globe.

Now, Wallace has shared an interesting claim on his X page. Here's a look at the post, captioned:

"Sometimes I feel like the @NASCAR years “2006 to NOW” are a (lost generation) in NASCAR racing. When anyone talks about NASCAR they ALWAYS go to the years 1980s to 2006."

He followed up the aforementioned post with a video clip on X, explaining his opinion.

"All these people come up to me, they come up to me about NASCAR. They don't say anything about William Byron winning the Daytona 500. They don't talk like that. They talk about Rusty, Senior, Gordon, Sterling. So, whether we're reminiscing or not, I'm just saying, that's what they talk about." Wallace said in the video, posted on X (0:09 onwards).

NASCAR legend Kenny Wallace's boycott of the 2024 Paris Olympics

NASCAR legend Kenny Wallace chose to boycott the 2024 Paris Olympics. The reason for such a harsh reaction was a scene from the opening ceremony.

The ceremony featured a scene that was intended as an interpretation of the Greek god Dionysus, and was meant to honor him. However, it caused an uproar among Christians around the world, including Kenny Wallace, who felt that it mocked The Last Supper. The retired racer expressed his discontent through two videos on his YouTube channel.

“I’m not going to watch them because they screwed up at the start,” Wallace commented on his first video on Jul 28th (2:46 onwards).

The boycott soon gained traction nationwide, with several people joining in the protest.

"I feel bad for those great athletes because, you know, those athletes have worked their whole life. They deserve to be seen," He said on his second video on Jul 31st (5:50 onwards).
"But that's the price they pay over there when they insult 1.6 billion people," Wallace further added (6:10 onwards).
