Hendrick Motorsports vice chairman Jeff Gordon recently addressed the rumors concerning Alex Bowman's future with the team. Ahead of the playoffs, speculation arose that the #48 Chevy driver might lose his seat and move to Spire Motorsports for the upcoming season.
Bowman, who recently snapped his 80-race winless streak, qualified for the playoffs and entered the post season as the #12 seed. According to Fox Sports reporter Bob Pockrass, the #48 Chevy driver is signed through at least next year but cannot afford any slip-ups for the remainder of the season.
In a recent appearance on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Jeff Gordon, worth $200 million (as per Celebrity Net Worth), addressed the rumors about Bowman's future with Hendrick Motorsports. Gordon dismissed the speculation, expressing his confidence in Bowman and his crew chief, Blake Harris, to make a deep playoff run and compete for the championship.
"Yeah, you know, don’t like to address rumors ’cause that’s what they are, but, you know, we have a lot of confidence in [Alex Bowman], and [Blake Harris], and the whole No. 48 team. Nobody wants to see them go deeper into the playoffs or go to Phoenix and compete for a championship more than we do. We believe in those guys," he was quoted as saying by USAToday.com.
The NASCAR Hall of Famer added that such rumors are common in the silly season if any driver from a premier organization doesn't perform well.
"I understand silly season, and things come along when performance hasn’t been there, especially at Hendrick Motorsports, you know, is a high standard. I understand how sometimes those things get out there, but we are excited about the future there," he added.
Rumors regarding Bowman leaving Hendrick Motorsports have taken the NASCAR silly season by storm, and they will only die after every Cup team confirms their driver lineup for 2025.

The #48 Hendrick Motorsports driver, Alex Bowman, addressed the rumors concerning his future with the team, labeling them as "annoying." He said that his contract with the team runs until the end of 2026 and that he is expected to continue driving the #48 Chevy.
Bowman cleared the rumors when questioned by the media during the NASCAR Playoffs media day. Here's what he said (via Alan Cavanna on X):
"That rumor has certainly been annoying. Obviously, my contract is through the end of 2026 and all I can tell you is what my bosses have told me and that there's no plans to change anything. Rumors are just rumors. Hopefully, they'll get their announcements done so my rumors stop. As far as I know, I'm driving the 48 next year and nothing's changing."
The 31-year-old will kick off his playoff campaign in the Quaker State 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, this weekend, September 8, at 3:00 PM ET.
