NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon was recently involved in a guess-the-driver challenge, in which he gave a hilarious reply when asked about going 'commando' during the race. Gordon is a former Hendrick Motorsports driver and the vice chairman of the Rick Hendrick-led HMS.
Hendrick Motorsports is one of the most successful NASCAR teams and has a total of 14 Cup Series championships. They currently field four full-time Cup Series drivers, piloting the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in the 2024 season. Two former Cup Series champions, Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott, drive the #5 and #9 Chevys, respectively. William Byron behind the #24 and Alex Bowman with #48 also compete for the Rick Hendrick outfit.
Recently, four-time Cup Series champion Gordon indulged himself in a Q&A round fun where he was asked to answer which Hendrick Motorsports driver is most likely to go 'commando' during a NASCAR race. To which the $200 million worth Jeff Gordon (according to Celebrity Net Worth) gave a hilarious response:
"I mean, aren't they all Commando other than their fireproof stuff? Right? I mean, are you saying Commando no-fireproof underwear? Or are you just saying no underwear?"
"Everybody's commando in a fire suit other than fireproof underwear," Gordon added.
The racing suit is often called a fire suit because of the fire retardant properties. These overalls are mostly full of patches of sponsor names. They serve the utmost importance to the drivers, the crew, and the track workers who work during the races. The multi-layered fire retardant material protects the person from flash fire.

How did Rick Hendrick first spot the HMS legend Jeff Gordon?
Before becoming an official executive working in Hendrick Motorsports, NASCAR Hall of Famer Jeff Gordon drove the #24 Chevy full-time for HMS from 1993 to 2015.
In an interview, the 52-year-old Gordon reminisced about the time how he got hold of a ride in Rick Hendrick's organization. Rick first saw Gordon during the 1992 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Gordon, at that time, was competing for Bill Davis Racing and driving the Ford.
Gordon said (via Hendrick Motorsports.com):
"He (Rick Hendrick) just happened to be there on a Saturday, which was pretty rare for him. (He) Was walking to a suite along the side of the track and saw smoke rolling off the right rear tire of the car I was driving."
"It made him stop, look and tell the people he was with, 'Let’s see what’s going on here. He’s got a tire going down or he’s blowing up or something.' I just kept going and I was still smoking the tire and he was like 'This driver is going to wreck. Who is this?’," he added.
Hendrick then witnessed the California native taking the checkered flag first at Atlanta and saw the beginning of Gordon's Cup Series career, which resulted in four NASCAR Cup Series championships and 93 Cup wins in 25 years.
