The 24 Hours of Daytona, sometimes referred to as the Rolex 24, has witnessed multiple NASCAR drivers like Chase Elliott and Jimmie Johnson competing in it. The IMSA-sanctioned event was first held in 1962 and has been quite popular amongst drivers from other American motorsports.

Many NASCAR drivers have attempted to race at the 24 Hours of Daytona over the years multiple times with some notable personalities like Jeff Gordon also winning the race, showcasing their versatility in both the Cup Series and endurance racing.

Endurance racing is considered to be more difficult than normal short races spanning over a few laps before the chequered flag comes out. Motorsports are brutal, and going through the same track for hundreds of laps at the end over the course of an entire day can be quite difficult. Maintaining maximum focus, and placing the car perfectly to grab victory at the end without any errors or mistakes is what makes endurance racing special.

The 24 Hours of Daytona is no exception to this. It is held on the 3.56-mile combined road course of the Daytona International Speedway. As mentioned, it is not an alien concept to NASCAR drivers. Here are three such drivers, including Chase Elliott, who took part in the competition.

#3 Chase Elliott

The Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott has raced the Rolex 24 once in his career in 2021. He was behind the wheel of the Cadillac DPi-V.R in the DPi (Daytona Prototype international) class. Mike Conway, Pipo Derani, and Felipe Nasr were his co-pilots. Chase Elliott finished the race in eighth place, marking a P6 in his class.

#2 Jimmie Johnson

Jimmie Johnson is no stranger to the esteemed race having participated in 10 editions since 2004. He has raced with multiple teams and cars through the years, and has finished on the podium several times, however, almost always a little far from fetching the victory. His P2 finish was first marked in 2005 with Howard-Boss Motorsports, and repeated in 2008 and 2021 with Bob Stallings Racing and Ally Cadillac Racing.

#1 Jeff Gordon

Other than his extremely impressive NASCAR Cup Series racing record, Jeff Gordon has added two entries into the 24 Hours of Daytona. He marked his debut in the endurance challenge back in 2007 with SunTrust Racing, racing in the Pontiac. He finished the race in an impressive third place. A decade later in 2017, Jeff Gordon got behind the wheel of Wayne Taylor Racing's Cadillac for his second Rolex 24 entry, winning the race on this occasion with Jordan Taylor, Ricky Taylor, and Max Angelelli as his co-drivers.
