The second annual Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix takes center stage this week on the Las Vegas Strip Circuit. The three-day event runs from Thursday to Saturday of this week.
The event has become a spectacle as F1's best battle it out under the lights in the Nevada city. The race has drawn attention from a few familiar faces from NASCAR, including the likes of a former multi-time champion. Here, we'll take a look at who from NASCAR is in Las Vegas this weekend to check out the action on the street circuit.
Kyle Busch
Kyle Busch, one of only two active multi-time NASCAR Cup Series champions, was spotted catching the F1 action. Busch, a Las Vegas native, was seen with his wife, Samantha, and their son, Brexton. The family was seen enjoying an up-close look at the F1 event, with Samantha sharing photos of their experience on Instagram.
Samantha also shared a photo of Brexton on her Instagram story. In her caption, she jokingly suggested that she wouldn't mind if her aspiring NASCAR driver, Brexton, decided to switch to F1 instead. After all, it would mean family trips to locations like Monaco and Dubai.
"Asking him if he'd rather race f1 selfishly checking out Monaco and Dubai wouldn't suck," she wrote.
On the racetrack, Busch is on the heels of arguably the worst season of his career after failing to win at least one race for the first time. He also missed the playoffs for the first time since 2012 amid his second season driving the #8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet.
Danica Patrick
Former NASCAR Cup Series driver Danica Patrick was also spotted in Las Vegas, getting a taste of the F1 action. The 42-year-old from Wisconsin showed up to the Las Vegas Grand Prix in style as she posed for a picture in a red suit jacket and pants with a black shirt underneath.
Patrick posted the photo of herself at the event on her personal Instagram story.
Patrick retired from full-time NASCAR competition post the 2017 season, after spending five seasons at Stewart-Haas Racing. She recorded a best-career finish of sixth at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2014, the best finish for a woman in the Cup Series. Since retiring, Patrick has delved into motorsports broadcasting with FOX and NBC, making sporadic appearances for both.
Patrick has also ventured into the political world as she's been vocal about her support for the 45th United States President and current President-elect Donald Trump.
Toni Breidinger
ARCA Menards Series driver Toni Breidinger is another prominent NASCAR figure who was present at the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix this week. Sporting a black and green Sunoco jacket, the 25-year-old took to her Instagram to share photos of herself.
In a dual post with Go Sunoco, Breidinger expressed her enthusiasm for the first night of the F1 event and offered her followers a chance to win the jacket she was wearing in the photos.
"F1 in Vegas night 1! comment a 💚 and follow @gosunoco to enter this jacket," she wrote.
Breidinger pilots the #25 Venturini Motorsports Toyota in the ARCA Menards Series, where she wheeled her way to an eighth-place finish in the final standings this past season. While still young in her racing career, Breidinger has already broken barriers as a woman in the sport, holding the record for the most top-10 finishes (27) in any NASCAR series.
