NASCAR veteran Corey LaJoie is set to depart from Spire Motorsports by the end of the 2024 season. He was in his fourth full-time season with Spire and is now on the free-agent market, looking for a new home.
LaJoie currently drives the #7 Chevy Camaro full-time in the Cup Series and the #7 Chevy Silverado part-time in the Truck Series for Spire Motorsports. The 32-year-old has competed in over 258 races and has accumulated nine top-10s in nine years. His best finish in the final standings has been P25 last year. Moreover, after showing speed in the first few races of the season, LaJoie has had an underwhelming summer. He now sits at P28 in the overall points table and had one top-five finish which came at the 2024 Daytona 500.
As the NASCAR Silly Season gets closer to the 2024 playoffs, the Charlotte native has to make a mark in the remaining races, and for a chance to stand out and secure a ride post the championship race at Phonix Raceway.
Here's a list of NASCAR teams where Corey LaJoie could find himself for the next season:
#1 Kaulig Racing
Owner Matt Kaulig fields two full-time Cup Serie rides for the 2024 season: #31 Chevy driven by Daniel Hemric and #16 by multiple drivers including AJ Allmendinger and Shane van Gisbergen. The #16 is dependent on drivers who can bring sponsors to fix the ride. Hemric hasn't reportedly signed for the next season. If LaJoie brings in sponsorship, this seat is definitely up for grabs.
#2 Rick Ware Racing
Rick Ware's outfit currently fields two-car teams in the Cup Series. Justin Haley is behind the #51 Ford as the full-time driver. Meanwhile, RWR's second entry #15 Ford has multiple drivers piloting the ride with Kaz Grala as the anchor driver. Again, it all comes down to bringing enough sponsorship to the ride, something LaJoie could eye.
#3 Front Row Motorsports
Earlier Bob Jenkins announced that they would add another charter to their existing two-car charter in the Cup Series. Michael McDowell and Todd Gilliland pilot the #34 and #38 Ford, respectively. However, McDowell is set to depart for Spire Motorsports for the 2025 season and after the recent signing of Noah Gragson, there is still a spot open under the FRM shed. LaJoie could take his knowledge and experience and replace FRM's current veteran driver for the upcoming season.
