Former NASCAR driver Tony Stewart and a few active TRD drivers recently appeared in a video for a Forza Motorsports event. The event is called Legend vs. Leaderboard, where anybody can participate against notable motorsports athletes and test their skills as a race car driver.
Forza Motorsport is a sim racing video game developed by Turn 10 Studios and published by Xbox Game Studios. The Legend vs. Leaderboard event is a promotional campaign by Forza Motorsports, in partnership with automotive lubrication giant Mobil1, which is worth $517 billion (as per Forbes).
The event allows motorsport enthusiasts to test their abilities against legends like Tony Stewart and Juan Pablo Montoya and Toyota Racing Development (TRD) drivers like Tyler Reddick, Bubba Wallace, John Hunter Nemechek, and Christopher Bell in the video game. Recently, Mobil 1 shared a video on Instagram, where all the aforementioned athletes appear and share details of the campaign. The post is captioned:
"When we say anyone, we mean anyone. Got a paddle? Then you’ve got a shot. Play Forza Motorsport now for a chance to win big."
Besides the athletes that appeared in the promo, Twitch streamer and YouTuber Nathan Stanz also made the cut and will be participating in the gaming event.
The Mobil 1 Legend vs. Leaderboard Rival Events are a series of five events in Forza Motorsport that allow gamers and race fans to compete against each other. The events run from July 25 to December 11, 2024.
Three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart can be considered the heaviest name in the lineup and would probably have several of his fans trying to compete with him in the event.

Tony Stewart secured an official lap time of 01:57:453 in Forza Motorsports for the Mobil 1 Legends vs. Leaderboard event. After recording his flying lap, Stewart reflected on his performance in the game.
"I was excited about it. I was a little nervous as we talked about before we made our runs, I was worried about the next 8, 10, 14year old that's going to just annihilate my time ran out of the gate, but I feel like I put down a very respectable time." Stewart said via Mobil 1 on YouTube [02:55]
On being asked whether anything about the sim racing experience caught him off guard, or surprised him, he responded:
"I don't think so. I think you know made some practice runs obviously and each run I got more comfortable with the track but it was a step-by-step process. But knowing that there's going to be thousands and thousands of people that are going to participate against this, I wanted to put up a good effort"
23XI Racing's Tyler Reddick is the final driver of the event that fans across the world will compete against. Reddick posted a time of 00:54:305 in the iconic 1985 Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT Apex from the Initial D series.
