“A great shot for us to win”: Alex Bowman confident of going back-to-back at Pocono after Chicago victory 

The NASCAR Cup series will next head to Pocono Raceway and Alex Bowman is excited to race on the track. Despite having an overall average of 18.4 in 14 starts so far, Bowman sounded confident in his latest interview with SiriusXM NASCAR radio.

Having recently snapped an 80-race winless streak with a victory at the Grant Park 165 held at Chicago Street Course, Bowman has secured his spot in the NASCAR Playoffs. He's now heading to a track where he tasted victory in 2021.

Bowman's last win before Chicago was in Las Vegas in 2022. While his teammates, including Kyle Larson, William Byron and Chase Elliott, have enjoyed success this season, victory had eluded Bowman until last week's Chicago Street Race.

Now, carrying the same momentum, Bowman feels confident about his prospects at the upcoming Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono Raceway.

"I think it definitely helps on the stress side of things, but... at the same time, I don't think it changes much on how we're trying to operate as a race team. [...] Pocono is a great shot for us to win, we've been... really, really good there in the past. We were really strong there last year, obviously we won there before, so... I'm excited to get there," Bowman said.

"Most of the time, the strategy kind of plays out like a road course with guys trying to get track position and flip stages and do different things," he added.

Notably, at Pocono this year, Alex Bowman and his primary sponsor, Ally have joined hands with the Best Friends Animal Society for the fourth consecutive season.

Alex Bowman is excited to team up with his "Best Friends" at Pocono

In 2024, Bowman and Ally pledged to donate $4,800 weekly to a local Best Friends network partner located near Pocono where Bowman and the NASCAR Cup Series are racing this month at the upcoming Great American Getaway 400.

Bowman said (via Hendrick Motorsports):

"We have 'Best Friends' in the car. That'll be super cool. I'm going up to New York City on Friday to go to one of their places. So that's going to be really neat and yeah, look, I'm fortunate."

Since beginning this partnership in 2021, Ally and Alex Bowman have contributed over $630,000. The Ally Best Friends paint scheme has graced Bowman's car during the spring race at Phoenix for the past three seasons and made an appearance last summer at Pocono Raceway. In 2024, Best Friends will be featured again on his car.

"Best Friends' mission is to ensure no more homeless pets and end the killing in America's animal shelters by 2025. Since its founding in 1984, Best Friends has worked to build partnerships and programs in communities nationwide to "Save Them All,"" Bowman further noted.

Currently, Alex Bowman is P11 on the NASCAR Cup Series standings with a win, five top-5s and 11 top-10s.
