Amid the ongoing lawsuit battle, Brad Keselowski has hinted at a potential third car addition to his Ford roster. However, the potential expansion of RFK Racing might jeopardize 23XI Racing's plans to run as an open charter.
Speaking to Fox Sports journalist Bob Pockrass, the #6 Ford driver disclosed that Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing's plans for the 2025 season would become clear in the "next two or three weeks."
"Yeah, I would expect we'll have some of that in the next two or three weeks. But a lot of things will come together in the next two or three weeks, said Brad Keselowski via Bob Pockrass on X.
An addition of a car to the field might challenge the Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan owned-23XI Racing's ability to compete for the 2025 season. This situation has arisen as a federal judge denied 23XI and Front Row Motorsports' preliminary injunction to retain their NASCAR charters this week.
Furthermore, in a post on X, former NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace shed light on the ongoing lawsuit and how the two aforementioned Cup Series teams will miss out on revenue and would require extra efforts to qualify. He also spoke on how they will have to perform every race in order to start another race and the number of open charters that might enter the field every race. The 61-year-old Wallace said:
"They [23XI and FRM] gotta put a lot of effort into qualifying. But if 40 cars show up, then they're locked in. But who knows." [4:11]
"If RFK, Roush Fenway Keselowski, if they start another team, that means more cars, so I don't know. Let's watch that. Let's see if more cars come into NASCAR," added Wallace.
"Everything hasn't gone perfect": Brad Keselowski on the departure of his crew chief after the 2024 season
RFK Racing recently announced that Matt McCall is set to leave the #6 Ford team after the end of the current season. Brad Keselowski also shared his thoughts on his crew chief's departure, with whom he has managed a single win in the last three years.
"I mean, he [Matt McCall] helped turn our company around. He's been a big part of that. Probably didn't get enough credit for it. You know, everything hasn't gone, you know, perfect. And I think I'd be the first to tell you that. But I'm really proud of what he helped us achieve. And you know, just kind of hopeful that the next chapter is great for him," Brad Keselowski said via Bob Pockrass.
As per Pockrass, Jeremy Bullins might take on the role of crew chief for the #6 Ford. Bullins previously worked with Harrison Burton under the Wood Brothers Racing shed.
